Event: Networking Fair and Forum: “Criminalization of Health: Community Perspectives on HIV/AIDS and Harm Reduction.”

Presented by: AIDS Community Action Network (ACAN), Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP), Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC)

The UBC World AIDS Day Committee presents: “Criminalization of Health: Community Perspectives on HIV/AIDS and Harm Reduction.”  This community forum will focus on different perspectives on HIV/AIDS and harm reduction within a local context.  It will not only address the HIV/AIDS within the Downtown Eastside but also how it pertains to youth, particularly students.

This forum will feature:

  • Meaghan Thumath, School of Nursing, University of British Columbia
  • M-J Milloy, British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS and Insite
  • Dr. Kate Shannon, British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS
  • Jenny Kwan, MLA for Vancouver Mount Pleasant
  • Kerry Porth, P.A.C.E. Society
  • Liz Evans, Executive Director and Founder of the Portland Hotel Society
